PC polycarbonate solid sheet, also known as polycarbonate solid panel, PC bulletproof glass or Calibron panel, is a solid single-layer structural panel manufactured by extruding high-performance engineering plastic polycarbonate as raw material. Due to its extremely high strength and excellent toughness, it is renowned as “unbreakable glass” and “resilient steel”, making it a highly regarded new-generation lighting and protection material in modern construction, transportation, agriculture and municipal engineering.

1. Excellent Impact Resistance

The core advantage of PC solid sheet lies in its extremely high impact strength. The impact strength of this material is 250 to 300 times that of ordinary glass, 20 to 30 times that of acrylic panels of the same thickness, and 2 to 20 times that of tempered glass. A 3kg hammer dropped from a height of 2 meters leaves no cracks on the panel, with virtually no risk of breakage. This characteristic makes PC solid sheet irreplaceable in scenarios with high safety protection requirements.


2. Superior Optical Light Transmission

Light transmittance can reach 88% to 92%, almost equivalent to ordinary glass. The panel surface can be treated with UV co-extrusion anti-ultraviolet treatment, and will not yellow, fog or degrade in light transmission under prolonged exposure to sunlight. After 4,000 hours of accelerated weathering tests, the yellowing degree is only 2, and the reduction in light transmittance is only approximately 0.6%. After ten years of outdoor use, light transmittance loss is only 6% to 10%, significantly better than PVC material (loss rate of 15% to 20%) and fiberglass (loss rate of 12% to 20%).


3. Wide Temperature Tolerance Range

PC solid sheet can be used stably for extended periods in extreme temperature environments ranging from -40°C to +120°C. It does not become brittle or crack at low temperatures of -40°C, nor does it soften or deform at high temperatures of +120°C, with no significant changes in mechanical properties under harsh conditions. The material has an auto-ignition temperature of 580°C, meets the B1 flame retardancy level confirmed by national standard GB50222-95, is self-extinguishing after flame removal, does not produce toxic gases during combustion, and does not promote fire spread, while also meeting UL94 V-0 flame retardancy standard requirements.


4. Light Weight, High Efficiency and Thermal Insulation Energy Savings

PC solid sheet has a specific gravity of only 1.2g/cm³, weighing only half that of ordinary glass of the same thickness, significantly reducing costs for transportation, handling, installation and support frames. Its thermal conductivity is lower than that of ordinary glass, with thermal insulation efficiency 7% to 25% higher than glass of the same thickness, reaching up to 49%. Under the same thickness, sound insulation is 5 to 9 decibels higher than glass, making it the internationally recognized preferred material for highway sound barriers.


5. Flexible Formability and Process Convenience

PC solid sheet offers excellent processability and strong plasticity, allowing on-site cold bending into arched, semi-circular and other structural shapes on construction sites. The minimum bending radius is 175 times the panel thickness, and hot bending can achieve higher precision curved forming. The material supports various processing techniques including engraving, bonding and hot bending, with thickness ranging from 1mm to 20mm. Available colors include transparent, milky white, lake blue, grass green, tea brown, red, black, yellow and others, with customization available according to application requirements.


6. Long-Term Weather Resistance and Quality Assurance

PC solid sheet features a UV co-extruded anti-ultraviolet coating on one side, with anti-condensation treatment available on the other side, integrating UV resistance, thermal insulation and anti-fog drip functions. It effectively blocks UV penetration, protecting valuable artworks and exhibits indoors. Product warranty periods range from 10 to 15 years, with stable light transmission performance over long-term use and extremely low yellowing rates.


7. National Standards and Market Prospects

On April 1, 2025, the national standard GB/T 44570-2024 “Plastic Products – Polycarbonate Sheets” officially took effect, marking a new stage of standardized and regulated development for the PC solid sheet industry. In 2024, global sales of polycarbonate sheet products reached USD 2.019 billion, with China accounting for 48% of global production capacity. The application fields of PC solid sheet have extended from traditional building lighting, transportation sound insulation and agricultural greenhouses to emerging fields including new energy vehicles, building-integrated photovoltaics, smart greenhouses, medical health and communication electronics.
